The post-grad life

Listen.

I just love this song and I love the way Mama Cass sings it. I don't know why, I just do.

It's Summertime

Well geez louise, I returned home from sophomore year a lot faster than expected. We had a whole day of tornadoes and time in the basement the Wednesday before exams started. They were so bad that they knocked the power out and we lost water too. So classes were cancelled and then it was decided that Thursday classes would be cancelled as well but then at 3PM an all campus meeting was held and we were told we had 24 hours to pack up and get out.

WHAT?! I know.

Anyway, I'm here now and I've been here for almost two weeks. All of my professors either gave me the option to take my final or just didn't assign one at all. So I didn't take any. Ha! All I know is that with 18 credit hours of classes I came out with three B's and three A's and a 3.39 GPA for the semester! Thank you, thank you, Jesus. Each semester I am so thankful for getting good grades. I suppose I just can't believe that I can succeed in college. Although, I always did well in school growing up... for some reason I guess I subconsciously think I can't do it.

So That's the short of it but I'm pretty sure that A.) Nobody reads this blog so really this is just a reminder to my future self about the crazy end of sophomore year (which, I will remind you, began a week late due to 8 inches of snow! Crazy weather.) B.) If anyone does read this blog they most likely go to Covenant and remember quite well what happened to us.

So I don't have a job. I was offered one but then HR took it away since I wouldn't be back in time for the May 3 orientation. But then I was back due to the tornadoes. So then I tell them I'm back and I'll be there! But then they don't even respond. Yeesh! I'm jobless. It's kind of nice but at the same time I hate it because I feel useless. I want to be working on stuff for the hall next year since I'll be the RA but I feel like it's kind of early yet. Blah! Being at school seems easier than being unemployed. I've applied to tons of places but it's hard to nail down a job when they know you'll only be there for a few months. My mom reminds me that God is in control. He knows the plan for my life and it's better that what I can even imagine. I know it's true but it is hard to really grasp and believe.

On another note, today was nice. It started with Momma and I going to Starbucks with the Bears. The moms go every Wednesday to talk about everything. So cute! Now that it's summertime Hannah and I can go too and today Natalie joined us. We talked about wanting to do summery things so when we all left us girls decided to go to the beach to just walk. Well we walked a total of two miles! It was really relaxing and nice to just let the water wash over us and dig our toes in the sand. We walked to their pier and back to 10th Avenue South. On the way we people watched, stepped over washed up jelly fish and took some silly pictures. We walked back to the car and then went to Panera's for lunch and Rita's for a treat. As we ate our dessert we heard thunder. It was a perfect Florida, summer day. I wish everyday was like that and I also wish that the rest of our Bear/Kercher group was complete with the additions of Allison and Lauren. They bring some more funny into the group.

Well. I guess that's all.

Cath.

the library

I love libraries. I love 'em to death. I like the smell, I like the row and rows of books, I like how peaceful everything is, and sometimes I get a little jealous of the folks doing their work study in here. They just sit at the desk and when you want to borrow a book they scan your card, scan the books, and then swipe their bindings on that little machine. It's beautiful.

Sometimes when I'm in the library, like right now, I hear a song playing on my iTunes and I want to scream it out but that would a.) be embarassing and b.) no one would like it or join in with me. but who knows...

I wish I were studying in a library like this although I imagine there would be a lot of people to watch and I wouldn't get much done. Instead I'm sitting in a carol and the only things in front of me are a imitation cherry hutch, a beige wall, and a painting of some fall trees. Oh well.

Don't Forget Kentucky...

Today in Intro to Lit. I was really bored, the class is an hour and fifteen minutes long and my professor lectured for pretty much the whole time. In an effort to not fall asleep I decided to try and name all the SEC teams in my head but I kept forgetting one. So when I got back to my room I consulted the extensive football schedule in the room and found out I was missing Kentucky. Sorry, Kentucky! Also, my feet were really cold.

What a riveting post this was!

cotton candy hair

On Sunday afternoon I saw a lady in Coolidge Park whose hair looked like white cotton candy. I ate a cupcake on a bench with Anne Marie. I wish we bought gelato instead. It was a really sweet day...

Worky Work

Well here I am... at work. My title is Facility Supervisor which means I ge to supervise the facilities! I wear a blue vest, vacuum, clean the machines, make sure Facility Monitors are here, and put away weights, (By the way, Mr. Macho Man, do you think you could put away the 50 pound weights you use to keep the door open and rack the dumbells when you're done using them?). Today is my turn to work Friday night and as you probably guessed.... there isn't much to do. Right now there are some fellas playing basketball and the quiet Facility Monitor is reading Sports Illustrated although he doesn't seem like the SI type. Maybe National Geographic? I like both magazines. I get to walk around the premises in 15 minute increments and make sure everything is like it should be but since it's 9:13 on the first Friday of the school year, nothing much has changed in the last few passes so I think I'll just extend that 15 minutes into something more like 20 or 30. Earlier some other boys were playing ball in the gym downstairs and one accidently hit the other under the eye with his elbow, he came upstairs bleeding so I suggested he rinse with water and then go find his RD and slap some Neosporin on it, I wish I knew where a First Aid kit was, then I could write this incident down and everyone in the Athletics office would know I'm capable of handling such things.... oh whatever!

Well that's all. I know, I'm really interesting. Tomorrow for practice we're running at the River Walk downtown and then I have the rest of the day for homework, cleaning, and sleeping! I'm so glad I got a work study job where I don't have to work on Saturday!

First Day of School!!!!!!

So today is our first day of classes. I only had two classes, one from 8.30- 9.20 and the other from 9.30-10.45. First was PE 153 - PE for athletes, I like my professor and the other kids... it makes for a fun bunch. My other class is Intro to Lit, it's a 100 level class so it's mostly freshman and we're pretty much all taking it to fulfill some distribution requirement... the category is slipping my mind. Oh well. Anyway, it was a pretty easy morning, after class Stephanie lifted some light weights, ate lunch, and I'm home free until practice at 4. After practice and dinner I have an athlete meeting, a hall meeting, and a dorm meeting. Oh yeah, I'm also supposed to have work from 7.30 -11.30 but I'm trying to get someone to cover for me while I'm at that dang athlete meeting. Oh baby. So many meetings in so little time.... my brain hurts.

Well that was a boring post.
